These fixtures use emergency ballasts, aka fluorescent battery packs, to provide instant backup lighting when normal AC power fails. When power does fail, the emergency ballast automatically switches to the emergency mode and illuminate one lamp for a minimum of 90 minutes. When AC power is restored, the emergency ballast automatically returns to the charging mode. They have a minimum starting temperature of 32 degrees and carry extended warranties.
*Sconce models 1390, 1405 and 1410 when ordered with EMB option employ a single dedicated 13 watt, 2 pin, horizontally positioned quad compact fluorescent lamp that operates in the Emergency Mode only.
